About Vineking

The Vineking is an independent wine merchant based in Reigate and Weybridge, Surrey, which started in 2003. They specialise in private clients, wholesale trade accounts and corporate gift services, as well as catering for weddings and offering wedding lists.

Products can be purchased via the online shop on the website, or by visiting either of the retail stores. Through the shops you can purchase individual bottles, and customers are given the opportunity to try a selection of wines, thanks to the innovative tasting machines in each shop - a free service! The Vineking are renowned for providing both friendly and expert advice.

What they wanted to achieve

There were no other systems available on the market which dealt with the complexities of fine wines and wine sales, as these are more complicated than selling just single items. Wines have vintages and fine wines do not have bar codes. Customers also wanted to be able to reserve wines to their cellars.

The Results

The Vision EPOS system has allowed The Vineking to monitor its levels of sales and profit for the online shop and both retail stores more efficiently, by actively being able to link with Sage for accounting purposes. By being able to link with Sage, it has also meant that the sale of items with no bar codes is more accurate, as all product information is entered into Sage and then uploaded to EPOS every night. Products can then be searched for on EPOS in order to create a sale. This in turn has helped to maintain stock levels more easily, as all items are passed through the till, instead of having to keep track manually via different methods.
