Renting vs Buying

Renting vs. Buying

In today’s climate, we realise that any new system will be a huge investment for any company, and to fund the purchase of any software system takes working capital away from the business, leaving you financially exposed.

During the past year, software as a service (SaaS) is a term that has become more familiar to companies. Vision Software has been offering this to customers since 2008 - in excess of 85% of our customers currently choose this method for funding their new system.

There are benefits and disadvantages for choosing the SaaS option, but most of the time it comes down to individual preference.

Options

We offer a range of options to our customers, designed to aid their transition to a new system. These options help customers to reduce the up-front costs of their new software package.

All Vision Software is built on a modular architecture allowing you to buy only what you require for your business, meaning that charges are determined on a per-server, per-user licensing scheme. Customers may also be looking to purchase a combination of products, and introduce them individually over a period of time where cost splitting may be advantageous.

Buy Now - Own the Software

This is the traditional way of purchasing software, and one opted for by many larger customers of the Vision Suite. This method results in the customer owning the software outright and paying an annual support and license to use fee.

Payment is made in stages: a deposit on the initial sale agreement, a further payment on delivery of the test system, and the remainder once the software is live.

Rental - SaaS

Software can be rented from us for a monthly or quarterly fee. This attracts only minimal up-front costs and is often selected by customers who wish to rent a hosted server solution from us.

The rental option will free up cash, as this type of payment rarely requires a large down payment. Typically, we will require only three months' advance rental. By contrast, loans to finance the purchase of software typically require down payments of up to 25 per cent.

This option also allows you to purchase a more comprehensive system which would traditionally be ruled out due to costs, had you opted for owning the software.
